As technology advances, so does access to healthcare, which is wonderful. A growing number of people are seeking support online and it’s an important option for clients who struggle to find accessible treatment, and it’s not the right fit for everyone. If you’re curious about whether or not teletherapy could be beneficial for your unique needs, these questions below might help you with your decision.

Could teletherapy be the right option for me?

If you answer “yes” to the majority of these questions, teletherapy could be a great fit for you.

  • Has commuting to an office been a barrier for seeking psychotherapy?

  • Do you live in a rural area? Are there limited options for psychotherapy in your town?

  • Do you live with physical symptoms that make moving around the city a struggle, such as a disability, chronic illness, chronic pain or chronic fatigue?

  • Do you travel frequently for work, making it difficult to maintain continuity of in person sessions?

  • Do you have a reliable confidential space you could use for an hour a week to meet with your therapist via video?

  • Do you have reliable access to high speed internet?

  • Would weekly, virtual, contact be enough for you to feel adequately supported by your therapist?

Can teletherapy provide the standard of care necessary for my needs?

  • Would it be too tempting to multitask or difficult to focus while on your computer during session?
